Job Description

Our client in California is seeking a dedicated Psychiatrist for a 120-day locum tenens assignment starting Jun 1, 2026. This role involves providing care to adult and potentially child/adolescent patients, focusing on evaluations and follow-ups within standard daytime shifts, typically seeing 12-16 patients per day.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide psychiatric care primarily to adult patients, many from lower-income backgrounds.
  • Manage a patient panel of 12-16 patients per day.
  • Conduct new patient evaluations, allowing 60-90 minutes for comprehensive assessment and dictation.
  • Perform follow-up appointments, scheduled for 30 minutes each.
  • Opportunity to support child and adolescent patient needs, maintaining a similar patient volume.


Additional Information

  • Board Certification in Psychiatry required.
  • Experience with the Valant EMR system is preferred.
  • Provide care for moderately to severely mentally ill patients with conditions including depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and personality disorders.
  • Typical shift hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
