Locum Tenens Physician - Psychiatrist Needed in MO

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Psychiatrist for a 45-day locum tenens assignment in Missouri, starting Dec 15, 2025. This full-time opportunity offers a 40-hour workweek with no weekends or holidays required, and the option to work four 10-hour shifts. Candidates must have inpatient psychiatric experience, with preference for those who have forensic experience.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Carry an average caseload of 40 inpatient psychiatric patients (across 2 wards), seen at least monthly and as needed
• Complete patient visits and documentation, including monthly summaries, interim notes as needed, annual assessments, and notes on admission and discharge
• Diagnose and treat psychiatric conditions, including prescribing medications, delivering therapy, and making referrals or consultations as required
• Participate in weekly treatment team meetings with multidisciplinary staff (nursing, psychology, social work, pharmacy, recreation, primary care, and dietary staff)

Additional Information

• Must be licensed to practice in Missouri
• Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certification required
• Board certification in Psychiatry required
• Inpatient psychiatric experience is mandatory; forensic experience preferred
• A physician is on site 24/7 for medical and psychiatric needs
