Job Description

We are seeking a Psychiatrist for a 120-day assignment in Texas, starting Apr 20, 2026. This role involves providing comprehensive psychiatric services to dually diagnosed adult patients committed under forensic orders in a specialized state hospital setting. The schedule consists of full-time day shifts from 8:00a-5:00p with no call requirements, focusing on long-term residential treatment and forensic psychiatric rehabilitation.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide specialized psychiatric care for dually diagnosed adult patients committed under forensic orders in a state hospital environment.
  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and provide ongoing medication management for patients with long-term forensic commitments involving all degrees of felony charges.
  • Manage a patient census of 220, seeing approximately 24 patients monthly.
  • Respond to emergency situations and restraint protocols.
  • Participate in treatment planning meetings.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and collaborate with nursing staff and multidisciplinary teams.
