Job Description

We are seeking a licensed Psychologist for a 115-day locum tenens assignment specializing in psychology in Rhode Island. This opportunity begins on Dec 1, 2025, and features day shifts from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The psychologist will work primarily with nursing home-level patients who have low acuity, including those with dementia, distal muscular dystrophy, and traumatic brain injury, in a long-term care facility environment. This role involves a balanced mix of testing and therapy, active participation in an interdisciplinary team, and leadership in group programs.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Provide clinical supervision to Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs)
  • Develop behavior plans and educate unit staff on behavioral interventions
  • Attend psychology and multidisciplinary treatment team meetings
  • Conduct psychological assessments, including WAIS and tests of attention, memory, language, and executive functions, with no more than one evaluation per day
  • Split responsibilities evenly between testing and therapy
  • Run 1-2 group therapy sessions as part of the group program
  • Manage a caseload with counseling sessions of 30-40 minutes and group sessions of 50-60 minutes
  • Collaborate with medical, nursing, social work, occupational therapy, and psychology staff to support patient treatment goals

Additional Information
  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. with experience in psychiatric or medical settings required
  • Background in neuropsychology preferred
  • Experience with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) desired
  • Must be licensed to practice in Rhode Island
  • Patient population includes adults with major mental health illness, dementia, distal muscular dystrophy, and traumatic brain injury
