Job Description

We are seeking a licensed Psychologist for a 120-day locum tenens assignment in South Dakota, starting Mar 16, 2026. This opportunity offers day shifts, Monday through Friday, with a schedule of 8am to 5pm. The role involves providing pediatric and family counseling, working closely with a behavioral health nurse and a psychiatric nurse practitioner in a collaborative environment. Prior IHS or tribal experience is required; new graduates will not be considered.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide pediatric and family counseling services
  • Conduct therapy sessions for diverse patient populations
  • Manage medication-assisted treatment (MAT)
  • Prescribe naltrexone, administer injections, and oversee social detox
  • Perform patient evaluations and medication updates
  • Handle prescription refills and manage ADHD medication regimens
  • Conduct follow-up appointments with patients every 1 to 3 months
  • Collaborate with onsite behavioral health nurse and psychiatric nurse practitioner


Additional Information

  • Previous IHS or tribal experience is required
  • Must be licensed to practice in South Dakota
  • Not open to new graduates
