We are seeking a skilled Thoracic Physician Assistant for a 60-day locum tenens assignment in California, starting Feb 23, 2026. This role offers Monday through Friday day shifts, typically 7am-5pm, with one weekend per month. The assignment is based in one of the few thoracic-only surgery centers in the state and focuses exclusively on lung and chest cases. The ideal candidate will have experience in thoracic surgery, chest tube management, and inpatient rounding, with robotic and DaVinci experience considered a significant advantage.

Responsibilities and Duties
Round on 4-10 thoracic patients per day
Provide comprehensive pre- and post-operative care for thoracic surgery patients
Manage and remove chest tubes; ability to place chest tubes is a strong plus (training available if needed)
Cover the thoracic floor while surgeons and residents are in the operating room
Participate in thoracic consults
Assist in the management of strictly lung and chest surgical cases
Utilize Epic EMR if experienced (a plus)
OR experience and robotic surgery experience are highly desirable
No requirement for placing arterial lines, central lines, or other invasive lines
Additional Information
Must hold an active California license as a Physician Assistant
Experience with robotic-assisted thoracic procedures and chest tube management is strongly preferred
Emergency privileges available; potential to start as soon as credentialed
