 Barton Associates is seeking an experienced Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner for a 120-day locum tenens assignment at a hospital-based urgent care center in California. Starting on 07/17/2025, this high-acuity, fast-paced position requires expertise in managing a wide range of urgent care cases, including chest pains, abdominal pains, sepsis, appendicitis, and early DKA. The schedule involves 36-44 hours per week, including 2-3 weekends per month and all federal holidays, with a mix of 8-hour and 12-hour shifts. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with full workups, interpreting EKGs, and utilizing on-site CT, ultrasound, and lab services. This opportunity offers comprehensive urgent care capabilities, including an infusion center and extended patient observation.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Manage high-acuity urgent care cases in a fast-paced environment

• Perform full workups for patients presenting with various acute conditions

• Interpret EKGs and other diagnostic tests

• Utilize on-site CT, ultrasound, and laboratory services

• Manage patients in the infusion center as needed

• Provide extended observation care for patients when required

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams

• Maintain accurate and timely medical records using Epic EMR

• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures

• Participate in quality improvement initiatives

Additional Information:

• Must be a licensed Nurse Practitioner with Urgent Care experience

• Active California NP license required

• Experience in high-acuity urgent care or emergency medicine preferred

• Strong clinical decision-making skills essential

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
