We are seeking an experienced Urgent Care Physician Assistant for a 200-day locum tenens assignment in California. This opportunity begins on Jan 12, 2026, offering full-time, weekday day shifts from 8a to 5p. The ideal candidate will manage acute care walk-in cases, procedural visits, and provide high-quality outpatient care to a diverse patient population.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide outpatient care for acute and chronic conditions
  • Manage acute care cases and walk-in visits
  • Coordinate referrals and specialty care, including telehealth
  • Deliver culturally sensitive care for the Native community
  • Educate patients on lifestyle, prevention, and self-management
  • Document care accurately in the electronic health record
  • Support after-hours urgent care needs
  • Collaborate with lab, pharmacy, and other departments to ensure follow-up
  • Participate in quality improvement and PCMH standards


Additional Information

  • Current California license required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications required
  • Acute Care or Urgent Care experience preferred
  • Commitment for a year-long assignment preferred
