Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Urgent Care Physician Assistant for a 120-day locum tenens assignment in North Carolina. Starting on Oct 13, 2025, this autonomous role features a rotating schedule with 12-hour weekday shifts and 8-hour weekend shifts. The assignment involves working alongside a medical assistant and front desk staff, seeing 40+ patients per shift in a dynamic urgent care setting.

  • Schedule: 8am-8pm weekdays, 8am-4pm weekends; 36/40 rotation week: most commonly week 1 Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday and week 2 Monday, Thursday, Friday

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Work autonomously to assess, diagnose, and treat patients presenting to urgent care
  • Manage a high patient volume, seeing 40+ patients per shift
  • Collaborate with a medical assistant and front desk staff to ensure efficient patient flow
  • Perform required procedures and interventions within scope of practice
  • Document all patient encounters using Epic EMR
  • Maintain compliance with all clinical protocols and standards

Additional Information
  • Must have at least 1 year of urgent care or emergency room experience
  • New graduates will not be considered
  • Must be DOT certified or able to obtain certification independently
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certifications required
  • Valid North Carolina PA license required
  • Ability to work autonomously is essential
