Responsibilities and Duties
Evaluate and treat walk-in patients with acute illnesses, minor injuries, infections, and urgent but non-emergent conditions
Perform basic procedures including suturing, splinting, incision and drainage, wound care, and abscess management
Order, interpret, and act on diagnostics such as labs, X-rays, and EKGs to guide treatment
Prescribe medications and manage short-term treatment plans
Collaborate with physicians and hospital staff for escalations, transfers, or referrals when higher-level care is needed
Educate patients and families on follow-up care, prevention, and the appropriate use of urgent care services
Maintain accurate EMR documentation and ensure compliance with hospital protocols and state regulations
Additional Information
Previous urgent care, emergency, or high-volume primary care experience required
Skilled in common urgent care procedures (suturing, splinting, incision and drainage, wound management)
Comfortable managing diverse patient populations across all ages
Experience ordering and interpreting labs, imaging, and EKGs independently
Strong adaptability and communication skills suited for community-based settings
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
Proficiency with Meditech EHR
