The position involves working Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, as the sole healthcare provider for the entire community. The ideal candidate will be comfortable handling a diverse range of medical cases, from primary care to urgent and emergency situations, with a focus on chronic care for an older patient population.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (on-call for emergencies after hours)

Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Provide comprehensive primary care services to patients of all ages 

• Manage chronic conditions for an older patient population 

• Handle urgent care and emergency cases as the sole provider on the island 

• Treat pediatric patients (approximately 4-8 patients per day) 

• Conduct patient examinations, diagnose conditions, and develop treatment plans 

• Order and interpret diagnostic tests 

• Prescribe medications and provide patient education 

• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records 

• Adapt to limited resources and be prepared for a wide range of medical scenarios

• Respond to after-hours emergencies (compensated at time and a half)

Additional Information:

• Alaska Nurse Practitioner license required for this position 

• Strong experience in urgent care and emergency medicine is essential 

• Comfort with working independently as the sole healthcare provider is crucial
