Job Description

Barton Associates is seeking a skilled Nephrologist for a locum tenens position at a hospital in New Mexico. This 42-day assignment begins on 08/11/2025, with a schedule of 5-7 shifts per month, Monday through Friday from 7am to 5pm, with additional call coverage to be determined. Responsibilities include transplant coverage, admitting and discharging patients, rounding, and weekend solo call for consults. This opportunity offers a chance to provide critical nephrology care with the possibility of assignment extension.

Schedule: 5-7 shifts per month, Monday-Friday, 7am-5pm (additional call coverage TBD)


Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Provide comprehensive care for kidney transplant patients 

• Conduct general nephrology consultations 

• Perform pre-transplant evaluations and management 

• Oversee perioperative care and post-operative monitoring 

• Admit and discharge patients as needed 

• Conduct patient rounds in collaboration with other physicians 

• Handle weekend solo call for consultations 

• Utilize Cerner electronic health record system for documentation 

• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes 

• Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures 

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of nephrology best practices and treatment guidelines


Requirements: 

• Active New Mexico state license 

• Board certification in Nephrology 

• Experience in managing kidney transplant patients and general nephrology cases 

• Proficiency in pre-transplant evaluation, perioperative care, and post-operative monitoring 

• Familiarity with Cerner electronic health record system 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team 

• Flexibility to work varying shifts and provide call coverage as needed
