Job Description

We are seeking a licensed Psychologist to fill a critical locum tenens position at a correctional facility in California. This 52-day assignment begins on 05/12/2025, with a flexible 4-day work week, 10 hours per day. The ideal candidate will specialize in crisis intervention, acute psychotic cases, and be comfortable working in a correctional setting. Responsibilities include managing low to high acuity patients, providing short-term care, and collaborating with psychiatrists for further assessments. This role also has potential for extension.

Schedule: 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (6:30 AM - 5:00 PM)

Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Provide crisis intervention services 

• Manage acute psychotic cases 

• Refer patients to psychiatrists for further assessment when necessary 

• Work with patients awaiting competency hearings 

• Conduct brief psychological evaluations and interventions 

• Adapt to a fast-paced environment with typically low length of stay 

• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a correctional setting 

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation 

• Adhere to all facility protocols and safety procedures

Additional Information: 

• Must be licensed to practice in California 

• Experience in correctional or forensic psychology preferred 

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team 

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills required
