Barton Associates is excited to announce its new dedicated Oncology staffing and recruiting group. The group was formed to respond to the expected increase in cancer patients and impending shortage of oncologists and oncology nurse practitioners (NP). The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) estimates that visits to Oncologists are expected to increase by 48% by 2020; however, the capacity of Oncology practices is expected to rise by only 14%. The ASCO estimates that the difference in growth will lead to a shortage of 2,550 to 4,080 Oncologists. Barton Associates expects growth in the Oncology locum tenens staffing market to continue in the short- and long-term due to this forecasted shortage of Oncologists and Oncology NPs.
