Yesterday’s infographic was all about medical records and how they are not always properly shared among providers. The company that put the infographic together, Hello Doctor, has created a mobile application that tackles that problem by helping patients organize their medical records and better communicate with providers.
The app’s co-founder, Maayan Cohen, came up with the idea while managing treatment for her husband’s brain tumor. His condition required him to see several different providers, and she found herself bringing several binders of medical records with her to each appointment. She often had to rummage through stacks of paper to produce a specific document the provider asked to review. After her husband won his battle with the condition, Cohen decided to make an application that could make organizing medical records easier for patients and caregivers who are managing complex conditions. Hello Doctor works by storing electronic scans of test results and other medical records within the user’s tablet or smartphone.
Users enter documents into the application by either taking a photo of a document using their device or scanning it using a computer and emailing it to the app. Once the records are entered, users can organize them using smart lists and make notes right on the document. The records are also searchable, making it easy for users to produce certain documents when providers ask. Recently, the company won a DEMOGod Award at DEMO Fall 2013, an event which gives company’s four minutes to demo their product.
